- TRIVIA -

Released in March 1992.

This game is known outside Japan as "Aero Fighters".

Red Rabbit from "Rabio Lepus" (also known as "Rabbit Punch") makes a cameo appearance in this game. Just check out Mao Mao's ending and you'll see it.

In Kowful's and T.B.'s joint ending, you can see plenty of "Turbo Force" arcade machines.

The game forbids the initials 'SEX' on the high score table. If you try, it gets changed to Japanese characters.

Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Sonic Wings - PCCB-00118) on 21/04/1993.

WIP:

- 0.135u1: Corrado Tomaselli verified/changed clocks and VSync to 61.31 Hz in Aero Fighters.

- 0.129u3: Angelo Salese added preliminary sound for clones Aero Fighters (bootleg set 1) and (bootleg set 2).

- 26th July 2008: Mr. Do - Funny story. Tormod sent me a BUNCH of instruction cards a long time ago. You've probably been seeing them added in every so often. Well, around July of last year, I had completed a whole bunch of them, but then had a computer crash, and they ended up on the "spare" hard drive by mistake. I found them again going through a cleanup. So thanks to Tormod, this week we have Sonic Wings (JPN version of Aero Fighters).

- 0.124u4: Improvements to Aero Fighters (bootleg set 2) [Robiza]: Fixed BG1 and BG2 offset. Fixed sprites. Promoted to "working" (NO SOUND).

- 0.124u3: Robiza added clone Aero Fighters (bootleg set 2). Changed description of clone 'Aero Fighters (bootleg)' to 'Aero Fighters (bootleg set 1)'.

- 0.124u2: Aero Fighters (bootleg) improvements [Robiza]: Sprite offset are now correct. Split spriteram in two parts. Identified last sprite for the two parts and promoted to "working" (no sound).

- 0.124u1: Robiza fixed clone Aero Fighters (bootleg): Fixed spriteram3 (previous value was too high and in the "city" level some build disappear. Sprite gfx bank (previously some sprite appear right and some sprite was wrong). Fixed perfectly the sprite zoom. Removed multisprite support; in the bootleg aren't present.

- 0.122u1: Corrado Tomaselli modified the Aero Fighters sound Z80 to 5Mhz.

- 24th September 2007: Mr. Do - Some more instruction cards courtesy of Tormod: Aero Fighters.

- 0.95u3: Pierpaolo Prazzoli added clone Aero Fighters (bootleg).

- 28th February 2005: Manuel Assoni dumped Aero Fighters (bootleg).

- 11th August 2002: Sprite zoom in Aero Fighters was fixed.

- 0.37b5: Added clone Sonic Wings (Japan).

- 0.35b11: Nicola Salmoria added clone Aero Fighters (Turbo Force hardware set 2). Changed parent description to 'Aero Fighters (Turbo Force hardware set 1)'.

- 0.35b8: Nicola Salmoria added clone Aero Fighters (Turbo Force hardware). Replaced the 512k sound2 roms with a 1MB rom.

- 0.35b6: Nicola Salmoria added clone Sonic Wings (Testdriver). All roms apart from V1, V2 and V3 were soldered, Nicola uses the ones from aerofgt which are very likely different!

- 0.35b3: Sprite zoom support in Aero Fighters [Nicola Salmoria].

- 0.35b2: Nicola Salmoria added Aero Fighters (Video System Co. 1992). Known issues: The plane in the attract mode animation is missing one wing. Actually it's there, but it's misplaced. The ship explosion in the attract mode animation is jagged at the four corners. This doesn't happen in the original. Both of the above might be caused by some hardware zoom support. There are graphics for different tiles (Sonic Wings, The Final War) but I haven't found a way to display them - different program, maybe.
