Samples required (Invaders)
WIP:
- 0.132u2: Hau fixed Steel Worker coinage (inserting a coin at certain moments during attract mode results in a broken game).
- 0.132u1: Hau, Chack'n and Dumping Union added Steel Worker (Taito 1980).
- 17th June 2009: Smitdogg - The game in question was Steel Worker by Taito, 1980! It's running in MAME already. Thanks to keshbach, krick, Justin Kerk, The tECHIDNA, Ranger_Lennier, Rene Single, D. - 6th June 2009: Smitdogg - We have a nice opportunity here to get a highly endangered game from the early 80's. I don't want to jinx myself by mentioning the game name (Steel Worker) but potential detonators can send me a PM and I'll tell you. Don't send me a PM if you aren't seriously thinking about donating. I just don't want to post the game name publicly yet (actually not until after we've bought, dumped, and sold it). Anyway, the game is frighteningly rare now and is priced accordingly (waaaay over a grand). But if we get a few more hundred in donations by Friday morning, we can get it. I'll say this, it will be historic if we get it. It shows off the genius of the programmers at the company at the time (very early 80's, from clearly one of the best ever arcade game makers) and you can notice games it influenced many years after it came out just by looking at screen shots. It will kick monumental ass if we get it. I estimate it's around the amount below still needed. I'll lower it if/when/as donations come in. If it gets to 0 we get the game. Even if we don't hit it, we're still getting kickass games, but for this one board, possibly the only chance we'll ever get is to buy this one from this PCB shop. You can donate by clicking the Paypal button here.
PLAY INSTRUCTIONS:
- Joining steel frames let workers move from left to right.
- Use control lever to select proper steel frames out of samples.
- Push select button (BUTTON1) to join steel frames.
- Pushing reverse button (BUTTON2) will turn worker.
- Worker can turn 9 times
- Joining a steel frame scores 50 points.
- Worker can join up to 15 frames to get a goal.
- 4 workers per game (game ends when the 4th worker falls).
- Since 50 points are scored for every girder that is connected, if you can build your bridge using more girders, you will get a higher score.
- Steel worker's walking speed accelerates at random - make your selection quickly.
- If you think steel worker is on collision with elevators, use reverse button to give you more time.
